# How do I write an SEO blog post with AI and publish it to WordPress?

> Write an SEO blog post with TalkGenAI from the dashboard or an agent: the settings that matter, what the article contains, what to check before publishing.

Give the writer a topic, a focus keyword and a length, keep FAQ, internal links and a hero image switched on, and let it publish to WordPress as a draft. TalkGenAI writes the full post in your brand voice, with headings, a table where it helps, an FAQ with schema, a meta description and the featured image, then saves it in your WordPress admin. You read it once and press Publish.

> **Key takeaways**
> - An SEO blog writer should handle the post and the publishing. Copying text from a chat into WordPress loses the image, schema and meta.
> - Write from a real question your buyers ask. A focus keyword plus one sentence of angle beats a long prompt.
> - Read every draft once. Our checklist below takes a few minutes.

## What do I fill in?

![TalkGenAI Create Article form with fields for topic, focus keyword, article type, additional instructions, article length (Short, Medium, Long, Pillar), and checkboxes for Q&A/FAQ, internal links and hero image](https://app.talkgen.ai/static/guides/seo-blog-writer/dashboard-create-article.webp)

*The Create Article form in the dashboard.*

| Field | What to put in | Example from our run |
|---|---|---|
| What's your article about? | The question as a reader would ask it | Mobile pet groomer insurance: what coverage you need and what it costs |
| Focus keyword | The phrase you want to rank for | mobile pet groomer insurance |
| Additional instructions | Audience, angle, things to avoid | "For owners of a mobile grooming van. No insurer brand names." |
| Length | Short 600 to 900 words, Medium 1,100 to 1,400, Long 1,600 to 1,900, Pillar 2,800+ | Medium |
| Include | Q&A/FAQ, internal links, hero image | All three on |

The brand voice comes from your [Marketing Brain](https://docs.talkgen.ai/get-started/marketing-brain), so you do not describe your tone every time. A medium article with a hero image costs 8 credits; without the image, 5. See [Credits and plans](https://docs.talkgen.ai/get-started/credits-and-plans).

## What does the finished article contain?

Our three medium articles came out at 1,151, 1,217 and 1,230 words. The pet groomer article had:

- An opening paragraph that answers the question: the three policies a mobile groomer needs.
- Question-style H2 sections ("What does mobile pet groomer insurance cover?", "When does each policy pay, and what drives the cost?").
- A table matching each policy to an example loss and its cost drivers.
- Numbered steps for buying coverage without overpaying.
- Four FAQ questions with FAQ schema.
- An SEO title ("Mobile Pet Groomer Insurance: Coverage & Cost Guide") and a meta description under 160 characters.
- A hero image, set as the featured image in WordPress.

## How does it get to WordPress?

Connect your site once with the free plugin ([Connect WordPress](https://docs.talkgen.ai/connect-site/wordpress)). After that, publishing is one click from the article, or one tool call from an agent. Our agent run saved the post as a draft (post 22545); the [WordPress MCP guide](https://app.talkgen.ai/guides/wordpress-mcp) shows every step of that run.

![Six steps: Marketing Brain, Content plan, Write, Draft on your site, Measure, Refresh, each with its MCP tool name](https://app.talkgen.ai/static/guides/seo-blog-writer/loop-by-hand-and-agent.webp)

*The same steps, by hand or by agent.*

## What should I check before publishing?

Our checklist, built from what we found in our own drafts:

1. **Is this topic already on my site?** One of our drafts got the slug `food-truck-insurance-2` because an older page existed. Search your site first.
2. **Do the links point where the text says?** One draft said "see this guide" with the link placed lower down. Fix it in the editor or with a refine.
3. **Are the facts right for my business?** The writer is careful with prices (ours used cost drivers, not invented numbers), but you know your market.
4. **Does the opening answer the question?** That is the part Google and AI assistants quote. Our [LLM SEO guide](https://app.talkgen.ai/guides/llm-seo) explains why.
5. **Is the featured image right?** Change it in WordPress if not, or ask for a different image with a refine.

If something needs a bigger change, a refine rewrites the article from one instruction (2 credits) and keeps your brand voice. We used one to add an HOA section to the pet groomer article; it went from 1,230 to 1,375 words with everything else kept.

## How is this different from asking ChatGPT to write a blog post?

A chat gives you text. You still have to add headings in WordPress, write the meta description, find an image, add FAQ schema and keep the brand voice consistent across posts. An SEO blog writer that publishes does those steps for you and leaves a draft. If you are comparing tools that optimize text you write yourself, see our [Surfer SEO alternative page](https://app.talkgen.ai/guides/surfer-seo-alternative).
